March 22nd is "World Water Day" (water makes dogs smell terrible)

The United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March of each year as the World Day for Water by adopting a resolution. This world day for water was to be observed starting in 1993, in conformity with the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development contained in chapter 18 (Fresh Water Resources) of Agenda 21.

States were invited to devote the Day to implement the UN recommendations and set up concrete activities as deemed appropriate in the national context.

1.1 billion people lack access to an improved water supply - approximately one in six people on earth.

A person can live weeks without food, but only days without water.

A person needs 4 to 5 gallons of water per day to survive.

Almost two in three people lacking access to clean water live on less $2 a day.

Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease.

First order for pet dog cloning

A South Korean company says it has taken its first order for the cloning of a pet dog.

A woman from the United States wants her dead pitbull terrier - called Booger - re-created.

RNL Bio is charging the woman, from California, $150,000 (£76,000) to clone the pitbull using tissue extracted from its ear before it died.

The work will be carried out by a team from Seoul National University, where the first dog was cloned in 2005.

RNL Bio says this is the first time a dog will have been cloned commercially.

"There are many people who want to clone their pet dogs in Western countries even at this high price," company chief executive, Ra Jeong-chan, told the Korea Times.

he firm is expecting hundreds more orders for pets over the next few years and also plans to clone dogs trained to sniff out bombs or drugs.

One out of every four surrogate mother dogs produces puppies, according to RNL Bio's marketing director, Cho Seong-ryul.

"The cost of cloning a dog may come down to less than $50,000 as cloning is becoming an industry," he said.

GOP Frontrunner Harbors Murderer!!!

Remember camp? Sing-alongs, vaguely homosexual bonding, arts & crafts, stoning, hanging & slitting the throat of dogs?

Oh, wait, that last one doesn't sound familiar? Well, then you're probably not related to Mike Huckabee, whose son actually did that.

Family values? Mmm, methinks not.

Now, please join me with comments in making fun of the Huckabees. They're so unattractive! And let's face it, probably turned to food to replace their absent father figure.

Stupidest Pet Owners of the Week

A couple in the aptly named Beaver County, PA are being charged with reckless endangerment after their mobile home was hit by a devastating fire. Although the couple made sure to grab the dogs when they fled the trailer, they left behind their four-year-old son, apparently forgetting about him.

Though the police queried them repeatedly as to whether there was anyone inside, twenty minutes passed until the parents remembered. The little boy was rescued from the flames and treated for smoke inhalation. We assume the dogs are just fine.
